The Egyptian Book of the Dead
The Ancient Egyptians had a complex series of religions and cultural beliefs and rituals. Take a tour to Egypt and visit the sites and the tombs and you will see the walls beautifully carved with the story of the Ancient Egyptians.
One story keeps being repeated in every tomb and temple and that is the story of the journey from life to the afterlife that each Pharaoh would have taken. In every tomb you find complex heiroglyphs on the walls that have come to be known as the Egyptian Book of the Dead.
The Egyptian Book of the Dead was a blueprint for safely getting from life and journeying through the complex maze of the underworld. It tells the pharaoh how to survive the many tests along the way and holds within it magic symbols to assist at each test.
But the Egyptian Book of the Dead wasn’t only a symbol for the pharaohs. Many rich merchants and noblemen also had their own papyrus for the afterlife journey.
The following video is a dramatization for the discovery of the first Egyptian Book of the Dead and gives a good account of the history and nature of the purpose of the Egyptian Book of the Dead tomb heiroglyphs and papyrus. It also holds within it much intrigue and uncovers another Ancient Egyptian mystery.
